Nuclear Launch Codes, referred to as the Nuclear Football, follow the president everywhere, carried by a military attache and stashed in a briefcase (pictured) making it possible for him to launch a nuclear strike at any country at any time. Yes, even now. Is there any recourse to this insanity, should Trump decide to go rogue?
This Week’s Featured Interview:
- Nuclear Launch Codes are in the hands of the president, under his sole authority to launch a nuclear bomb strike anywhere in the world. Is there any recourse? Garrett Graff, author of RAVEN ROCK: The Story of the US Government’s Secret Plan to Save Itself while the Rest of Us Die, explains the workings of the so-called “nuclear football” which contains the nuclear bomb launch codes, plus the survival plan for our “leaders” that lets them (maybe) survive while the rest of the world dies. Quite a pertinent discussion to have in this era of impeachment inquiry, don’t you think?
Numnutz of the Week (for Outstanding Nuclear Boneheadedness):
The Vatican wades into nuclear waters to influence policy – yet another form of abuse the priests are inflictin in another place they really do not belong!

- Robert Hunziker article from Counterpunch on Fukushima’s Radioactive Water Crisis, with no answer to the ongoing dilemma of what to do about the tritium-contaminated water being held on-site and the 170,000 tons of radioactive water created every day.
- In keeping with Keep Space 4 Peace week and all anti-war activists, there’s a New Study that Documents Depleted Uranium Impacts on Children in Iraq. You don’t need a fireball to commit nuclear war; just releasing vast quantities of “depleted” uranium (which is still plenty lethal) will destroy your enemies over generations.
